The man who vandalized power lines and transmission towers in
Wisconsin is sentenced to 13 years in prison
for hiding deadly cyanide in a Chicago subway tunnel.
Joseph Konopka of De Pere told federal Judge Wayne Andersen in Chicago
Thursday he really didn't have "a real good reason" when asked why he
went on the vandalism spree.
Konopka, who calls himself "Dr. Chaos," will be sentenced in federal
court in Wisconsin for his sabotage of power lines, air traffic
control signals, and radio transmission towers.
Judge Andersen says his sentence in Wisconsin is likely to be
consecutive to his 13-year term for taking two bottles of cyanide from
an abandoned chemical warehouse and hiding them in the subway tunnel.
Defense attorney Matthew Madden says his client's penchant for
destruction and bizarre behavior "stems from an abnormal maturation
process."
