SPAM
Mercedes_B writes "I will not presume that all of you reading this know what spam is, but I`m rather sure that you have had the honor of seeing spam, putted in better words, seen your e-mail box flooded with e-mails from senders you don`t know, (but there is something - just one of pretty good spammers tricks - SUBJECT that challenges you to open the mail).

So, what is spam, and how to deal with it?

Spam is, said in very simple language, commertial e-mail message that offers - I say it - mostly nothing, and, more simply, e-mail you don`t want to receive.
Most of web mails offers BLOCK SENDER AND ALL FUTURE MESSAGES...but that cannot stop spammers. Interesting, huh? More likely, as I see it, on - HOW TO DEAL WITH SPAM - is simply cleaning up your inbox, NOT OPENING, (no matter how subject attractive or challenging seems) and definitelly - not replying to the spammers. I have been latelly receiving funny spam mails under the subject URGENT ASSISTANCE , and very similar to that subject, from variety of senders.
I know, because i wanted most of the time, when I opened the spam (aka junk mail), to reply, and so I did a few times. Not smart at all - just for caoution - for most of the time, (as another spam trick) is that the return path is wrong...so you (I received for ex. the message in my inbox that it was failuire delivery) will probably get this message too, and another thing is...your message will be sent to someone else, who may find it challenging to open, and get his/hers computer to crash down. (large possibility) Also, their message can have malicious code within the message (spyware mostly, or trojan). Why? So that they can follow up all the sites you visit, what interests you mostly, so that they can send offers.
Yup....very serious!
What you need to do, is, in my opinion, very important - change you settings on options or prefferences for your mails to display full header, not just basic...for, as many tricks as they use to forge the address the mail was sent from, on the full header display, you will always be able to see the originating IP address, because their ISP recognize the mail sender, and always displays their IP address. This is the only thing they cannot forge to hide their true identity.
The true IP address of the sender is what you will see on the begging of the mail header (usually their headers are long, and seem very confusing, (lots of numbers and letters - written in hex, which is very tyrefull ans waste of time to decode...so, don`t worry for not understanding, focus on the begging of header, because that`s where their real IP address is) -which is part of their trick. It`s under the first received :from header, like I already pointed out - example: RECEIVED : FROM mc-f41.law1.hotmail.com([65.54.253.177)] - {THIS IS THEIR IP} - by mc8-s13.law1.hotmail.com. (don`t look out for other IP addresses listed, for you will find yourself very confused)

With this information, you can search for their host, and use all other tools on this link to find out more about the IP`s owner - http://www.samspade.org/
and report them as abuse. I`m not sure (well, some companyes will reply....but, mostly.....I guess you know there is NO reply coming word) for wheter you will get an answer...but do report to their ISP, for that I (only can say hope) will help in some cases, for nowdays....SPAM MAILS ARE INCRESING incredblly fast, so what now, you`ll ask?
I say - just delete, and don`t let them make you have a heart attack, after months for not checking (or days..or HOURS..terrible...but I can`t help, that`s how things are) one of your accounts/ or account.

Newest version of ZoneAlarm PRO is very....VERY...helpful, but only in cases of default mail client (ex. Outlook Express...etc. depending on your OS).

Where you can find more help to understand the e-mail wonder:
On this subject, I suggest you to get more familiare with this subject, e-mail and privacy on the link below, for it provides, and explains lots of things I missed out here about this important subject, and gives very useful tutorial (how to hide yourself, - in case you are sending mail) solutions and lot more.
