inetnerd writes "I would like to introduce you to a new method of protecting users from spyware and other unwanted software. The Safe Software certificate program allows users to know what is going to be installed before they install it. This is done via our certificate program. Users can click on a Safe Software Certificate and view information about the program. This information for this certificate is generated during our application process. In which each vendor must create a privacy statement and disclose information about their application. Safe Software then installs the vendor’s software and checks it for viruses, spyware, key loggers, browser helper objects, hijackers, adaware, dialers and bundled software. Then we create a certificate explaining to the user what is included in the software and the privacy practices of the software vendor.



With new spyware legislation being passed Safe Software Certificates will reduce the liability to vendors and download sites. It will reduce user’s risk of installing unwanted software.
