General News
cohesive writes "Breakthrough Solution from Top Layer Networks and OpenService, Inc. Provides Centralised Configuration, Correlation, Analysis, and Focused Threat Response

09 May 2005 – Top Layer Networks (www.TopLayer.com), the global leader for high performance intrusion prevention solutions, today announced general availability of its SecureCOMMAND+ adaptive threat management solution developed through its partnership with OpenService, Inc. SecureCOMMAND+ is the market’s first centralised IPS management product with an integrated security information management event correlation and reporting engine, providing customers with greater insight into their network security to protect against today’s highly adaptive security threats.

SecureCOMMAND+’s unique technology integration enables seamless identification, analysis and resolution of increasingly distributed and dynamic attacks that threaten the availability and security of business-critical resources. Because of the tight integration between the IPS 5500 and security information management engine, SecureCOMMAND+ delivers faster threat recognition and response -- unlike other IPS vendors that simply send syslog or SNMP information to third party management solutions, thereby leaving the problem in the hands of the IT administrator.

“Combining enterprise-wide visibility into network security with the ability to react quickly puts organisations in the best position to defend against the onslaught of attacks they face today,” said Mike Paquette, vice president of marketing and product management at Top Layer Networks. “By integrating Top Layer’s industry-leading IPS with OpenService’s unique threat detection, event correlation and reporting capabilities, SecureCOMMAND+ is a powerful solution that provides IT administrators the ability to immediately counter distributed and dynamic attacks.”

SecureCOMMAND+ is Top Layer’s centralised management appliance for the company’s Attack Mitigator IPS 5500 product family. Since Top Layer maintains the most state information of any IPS vendor, the data offers greater value in providing more intelligent responses to increasing threats. Combining Top Layer’s IPS capabilities with OpenService’s powerful and easy to manage risk-based correlation and analysis, IT administrators have more concise information with which to counter dynamic threats and quickly provision their IPS 5500s with a single button-click.

“A clear view of network activity sits at the core of effective enterprise-wide security,” said Ted Joseph, chairman and CEO of OpenService, Inc. “The ability to dynamically adapt Top Layer’s industry-leading Attack Mitigator IPS 5500’s security posture in real-time, based on correlated information from the embedded Security Threat Manager (STM) from OpenService, empowers SecureCOMMAND+ customers with the ability to protect their critical online resources from the complex, dynamic threats that target the enterprise today.”

SecureCOMMAND+’s central management system performs the following:

· Data Collection and Event Management: Processes event and log data from distributed IPS. This data provides greater context, which results in more intelligent threat assessment. SecureCOMMAND+ can also be upgraded to a full version of OpenService’s STM to include data from other sources (such as IDS and firewalls) in the real-time event correlation process for even broader perspective

· Threat Analysis and Response Engine: Performs specialised risk-based analysis that provides more accurate recognition and allows for focused response to threats

· IPS Provisioning and Management: The security posture of one or more IPS are provisioned with the appropriate focused response

For the first time, there is a way to centrally manage an entire security infrastructure, eliminate false positives, respond quickly to threats and understand how distributed and dynamic threats may jeopardise an IT environment. Each IPS is finally able to adapt its protection against constantly changing, distributed attacks targeting multiple fronts.

Business Benefits

· Allows for rapid and focused response on increasingly dynamic and complex security threats

· Provides single-screen visibility into the health of the IPS infrastructure

· Assigns business context to security events, so you can prioritise corrective action based on business impacts

· Proactively alerts when a distributed attack is threatening critical assets

Pricing for the SecureCOMMAND+ appliance begins at $14,900. For more details on pricing and availability, please contact sales@TopLayer.com or 508-870-1300.
