General News
webitpr writes "Message’05 (26-27th October, Business Design Centre, London) is the first major event for enterprises trying to get to grips with email, (IM) and mobile messaging whilst making them secure, manageable and compliant. It follows research showing that as email volume skyrockets, email-borne threats proliferate, new communication technologies - such as IM and mobile messaging - are adopted and new regulations emerge it is becoming increasingly harder to deploy, manage, maintain and secure this lifeblood of corporate communications.

The event, a series of 30 interactive roundtables programmed by analysts Ovum and eema, was launched following results from a UK Enterprise Messaging survey conducted by organisers Firecast Media Events. Results amongst IT managers and directors from 500+ employee organisations revealed that their biggest issues were Compliance (81%), spam (72%) and exploding email volumes (70%). The biggest growth area was IM whereby only 35% ‘officially’ used IM systems today but 70% planned to do so in the next year.

Other research validating the need for this educational forum was conducted recently by MORI on behalf of BT and it revealed that 81% of IT directors in financial services companies have said that ‘email anarchy’ and escalating costs threaten companies that do not address their message management correctly.

According to Graham Titterington, principal analyst at Ovum, “It's key for enterprises to ensure that their messaging is secure, manageable, effective and compliant and use the right partners, technologies and processes to get it right.” He added “Message'05 and the roundtables we are programming will provide a unique forum at which they can do just that. Ovum is delighted to be the key research partner at the event.”

Confirmed presenters and chairs include several senior analysts from Ovum, Mike Short, SVP of research at O2, Andrew Yeomans, VP of Global Information Security, at major European investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, Mike Usher, Security Advisory Director at Prudential, Eric Allman, CTO of Sendmail as well as Steve Anderson, IT Partner at Davis Langdon LLP.
