Email Servers
"It’s Hello from Sail-World’s Cruising Editor, Nancy Knudsen, and welcome to Sail-World’s Cruising Website and Newsletter

Every week we will be bringing you news and stories for the cruising sailor – everything NOT to do with racing. From interesting boat shows to the best sailing destinations, from hints to make your sailing life easier to ‘what’s on’ in the sail cruising world.
"

Thus begins an email in a recently received series of them titled "Sail-World Cruising Newsletter". Catch is, I never subscribed, nor have I ever heard of such a newsletter list. Yet I'm wanted: "Let’s go cruising together! Nancy Knudsen".

Here is the email header with no abuse information:

Return-Path: <media@sail-world.com>

I visit http://www.sail-world.com/subscription/ just to see what the subscription page looks like. You'll have to check it yourself, nothing to mention other than lots of tiny image ads. At any rate, my own personal unsubscription link is:

http://www.sail-world.com/subscription/index.cfm?sid=25001&pwd=r18278

Looks like I was already assigned a password (pwd) of "r18278". I don't know about how you create passwords, but mine are not as simple as that. They are quite a bit stronger. So anyway, its nice to know, folks can sign up someone's email account at places like these without having to confirm they own that email address. Then those folks can start getting invites to go sailing too.

If you're interested in reading the email in its entirety, download this archive to view the PDF.
