I wanted to take a brief intermission from security tonight and talk about an interesting entrepreneurial spirit, certainly quite a business twist executed swiftly by a 21 year old Alex Tew. Right before university started this fall, Alex sat down and asked himself how he could become a millionaire. After a bit the answer came to him: sell 1,000,000 pixels of advertisement space on milliondollarhomepage.com. After Alex hit his first $1,000 U.S. he issued a press release which was picked up by the news around the world and eventually brought him to today, four months later, and $970,300 worth of pixels sold.

[http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/]Alex's idea has been pretty much beaten to death by the
press, but the
testimonials are piling up. At this very moment Alex claims to be receiving 40,000 unique visitors per hour and has estimated at least 600,000 unique visitors today alone.
His unique idea is being copied and implemented all over the place. There is an Austrailian million dollar home page which has sold 400 pixels so far. (In Alex's "store" a single pixel sells for a single USD, with a minimum order of 100 pixels -- or a 10 x 10 square). Other copy cats have risen up, but I doubt they'll ever match Alex's fresh idea.
Its up to the young folk to show the world, that anything is possible -- including a million dollars in just four months.
You can have all the best ideas in the world, but they won't matter if not a single one is implemented.
That my friend is the moral of the story. And while you're thinking of ideas, remember, the weakest ink is better than the strongest mind as an old Chinese philosophy teaches.
So what's your new years resolution?
