Merijn's version two of the StartupList has been released: "A simple tool that lists all and every auto starting program on your system. You might be surprised what it finds, this is way better than Msconfig. Commonly used to troubleshoot malfunctioning systems, trojan/viral infections, new spyware/malware breed and the likes."

Merijn continues: "The new version shows a ton of new autostart locations in a nice treeview, along with help text for each section. The right-click menu of each item offers options to show the file or Registry key, or copy the information to the clipboard.

A very special thanks to TonyKlein for his Collection of Autostart Locations, and Andrew 'SilentRunners' Aronoff's list of launch points.

Note that this new version requires the MSCOMCTL.OCX file, which is available from SpywareInfo here.

The StartupLIst Version 2 is currently unable to cope with large Hosts files, and whilst attempting to load them either goes 'not-responding' or loads them after a considerable lenght of time [depending on size]. On my PC the Hosts file is 1692KB in size and this is enough to produce a 'not-responding' freeze.

I have emailed Merijin and he relied saying he is now working on otions for the following fixes:

a Hosts file loading status indicator for larger Hosts file that load slowly and/or excluding the Hosts file from loading.
