image Yahoo Fights Phishing With Password Protection image
Yahoo!
a_cup writes "We may start seeing less Yahoo mail/messenger accounts being stolen thanks to Yahoos new security measures. Yahoo recently added protection for their login pages. There are many Phishing scams that present themselves as a Yahoo login page. Once signed into these scam sites the users password is taken, the password changed and the user loses his/her account.

To help prevent users from signing into a scam site, Yahoo now offers the option to use a sign in seal which allows a user to personalize the Yahoo login pages.

The user has the option of putting personalized text or an image (personally created) on the login page. Once created, If you dont see the personalized text/image on the login page, chances are your on a fake login page. Do not sign in!

I would encourage all Yahoo users to take advantage of this security tool. It is free and only takes a couple of minutes to do. Well worth the time.

* The personalized sign in seal will only show on the computer you created it on. If you use more than one computer you will want to set a seal for each computer.
