CastleCops
CastleCops volunteer staff have come together last year to entirely author and edit "Rootkits For Dummies" published by Wiley. These CastleCops staff are: Larry Stevenson, Nancy Altholz, Dave Kleiman (Collaborator), Mahesh Satyanarayana (Collaborator), Abdul-Rahman Elshafei (Collaborator), Allen C Weil (Collaborator), Bill Bright (Collaborator), Lawrence Abrams (Technical Editor).

This all started thanks to Larry's excellent work in the CastleCops Windows Security Checklist article series. After Larry published a couple articles on rootkits, Wiley contacted me seeking his information for a possible book deal. And here is the culmination of that. Congratulations to the whole team who participated in writing and editing this book.

A synopsis follows...

Long a problem in Unix networks, rootkits - malicious pieces of software that give hackers administrator-level or "root" access to a network - have recently come into focus as a serious threat in the Windows world. Rootkits can be used to steal confidential data - such as logins, credit card numbers, and medical records - yet many Windows administrators remain unaware of the threat and unprepared to combat it. Written by highly respected MVP security experts, the book shows administrators and users how to detect rootkits, dispose of them, mitigate any damage they've done, and if necessary, wipe the system clean and start over. The value-packed companion CD offers a unique suite of tools to help administrators root out rootkit problems - software to detect rootkits, conduct forensic analysis, and make quick security fixes.
Quoted from Amazon UK.

This is a huge milestone. Big round of applause folks, please!

Hi there guys,

first of all congratulation for the great work!
As a representant of CA company I suggested the book to be included into Books24x7 which CA uses as a technical knowledge development education.
Now Books24x7 has purchased the book.

Cheers my friends!
