image Spam from the future image
Microsoft
Did you like the change today, 3 weeks early, to daylight savings time? Are you using Outlook Express and seeing emails (plus spam) dated an hour into the future? You aren't alone. Microsoft put out KB 232497. Official workaround: "The original time is still available by right-clicking the message, and then clicking Properties. The time shown in the message's properties is the e-mail header time recorded by the e-mail server; it is not affected."

Its been said that this problem will fix itself in three weeks time when the usual DST started. But remember, DST extends for an extra week, so you'll have one more week of spam from the future -- unless of course you are using Thunderbird like myself, then this isn't an issue (or Outlook for that matter).

An associated poll has been created to see how many folks are affected by this. Cheerio.

Here's what clock keepers have to do about it: Mercury News: Clock keepers early to rise [www.mercurynews.com]

And, for greater detail on the history and purported purposes of switching to it: Wiki on DST [en.wikipedia.org]

IMO, like the Province of Saskatchewan in Canada, I would much prefer just One Standard/Daylight Time. All this switching back and forth is unnecessary, time consuming and costly. Energy savings may occur but at the expense of other areas.

Like Larry Stevenson said;

they should leave it like it is right now,
forever.

quit trying to fix something that ISN'T broken.

I just want to know what I did during that hour I lost...

Was I up to no good? If so, the cops haven't caught me yet. I must be sneaky. ;-)

xandros on a PIV box was not affected either firefox or thunderbird. My brand spanking new Samsung, Cingular, Blackjack automatically resets the time back an hour when I reset it...no option to disable the automatic update and apparently all of Cingular is affected...dunno, just some comments of other folks with the phones. Vista set the time correctly but ....... Vista Explorer is sometimes non-functional... That's why I use Xandros except for a certain work requirement...
Linux RULES!
Doesn't that sound teenagery!? :)
