i believe we are.

everytime the botmasters find a way to exploit windows,
we learn more about how to block such exploits in the future.

and it may be that two days from now when all the world goes to windows for an update that all the or at least some of the compromised computers will have the opportunity to let windows update run the latest version of the Microsoft malicious software removal tool;
and that may take some of the machines off the botmaster's net.

this net is very powerful:
Storm worm botnet,

i hope M/S has a removal tool for that one on patch Tuesday.

I doubt that anyone knows the answer to this one as its like a game of table tennis with the ball flying back and forth. The good guys must believe they are winning lest they give up the fight and surrender to the s***** buckets.

Hi All,

IMHO, this is going to be a never ending battle, but have hope that the good guys overpower the bad...perhaps one day. It's always good to have hope in situations such as this.

Unfortunately this quote, There's a sucker born every minute and two to take 'em, uttered many years ago is still credible today. People continue to get hooked by phishing scams and get-rich-quick schemes like the Nigerian email scam. People are still naive and sometimes, downright stupid. Those of us savvy enough to see the scam must continue to educate those who cannot see it. We must continue to be proactive. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose and sometimes we get rained out, but we must never quit.
