Malware: IFRAME attacks? Other Emerging Threats for 2008 |

A few years ago the content management system applications like PHP-Nuke experienced a wave of IFRAME injection attacks, including SQL injection, and other kinds of nasties. On February 14th, I had the pleasure to giving a presentation to the Multi State ISAC (MS-ISAC) about this year's Emerging Threats (see here for details and the presentation).
Legit websites and domains was on the list of topics whereby criminals would be using them to spread malware and conduct criminal activities. I'm sure you've been reading the news about how many legit websites (and large companies) are being owned by iframe attacks as I write this (some threads can be found here.
Security doesn't happen just at the consumer desktop, nor the business desktop, but also at the web server and the very applications and daemons that run them. Its a full layered approach. When going on the Net, caution is urged.
