In the meantime, I b0rked my signature line again, and am not sure how / why it did not render as it should. ISTR that there was some sort of weird he code after teh image tag, but apparently this changes from user to user, so that I cannot use someone else's hex tag for my signature. Barring me finding it on an old Google page, I am not sure what to do to get the pics back....

It is possible the post which generated the email alert has since been removed due to content (spam, irrelevance) or moved to the correct thread if posted in the wrong place.

It is true the verivication code occasionally kicks out - there has been a lot of work going on in the background and some things have taken a higher priority. I have no doubt that problem will be addressed in due course.

Hi all, wonder if you can help me.

I have turned on my compuer today to find a blue screen with a message in the middle saying I have a virus. At times I also have bugs (beetles) crawling across the desktop munching away.

I checked the desktop wallpaper properties and the wallpaper comes under the name ctfmonb.

I have in the past had that other horrible thing with a very scary red screen and black scary thing in the middle and have successfully put my computer back by using Windows Restore to a safer time and that got rid of it.

This time, the windows restore will not go back to any other safe time at all.

I have done a log as below, hope you can help me. I have no other idea of what else to do.

I'm trying to write a simple program that basically will activate every part of HJT and should trigger anti-virus etc protection. I've set it up to run some auto-start and a service too. Now I'm trying to change all the R entries with it but am not sure how to change R3 in order to trigger it. I've tried entering a CLSID
[HKCR\CLSID\{THE_CLSID}]
""="The little buffer"
[HKCR\CLSID\{THE_CLSID}\InProcServer32]
""="C:\buffer\buffer.exe"

Yes I know it probably shouldn't be a .exe but I don't know how to make a .dll
Anyway, I then did this:
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\MS\IE\URLSearchHooks]
"{THE_CLSID}"=""

I figured that should trigger it, but nothing was found. Any ideas?
Also, before I bork up my computer, [HKLM\SOFTWARE\MS\IE]Main\UrlTemplate], is that detected by HJT or should I leave it be?

This one worked - got the verification, the link lead to this thread and, lo and behold, there is an addition.

Not always the case though, sas I say, so something is amiss, even if intermittently.

I posted a question here yesterday and subscribed to it: today I got an email notification that there had been a reply (from "Paul@castlecops.com"), so I clicked on the link in the message:

which takes me to a page saying "The topic or post you requested does not exist".

When I go to my post 'manually' there is no reply posted, so what was the notification for? This is by no means the first time I have encountered this on these forums by the way. Is there a bug somewhere?

Each post has the "Back to top" possibility. Why not that same option at the end of the forum itself, beneath the listing of threads? Or have I just admitted to being really lazy.

Yep!
Although it is possible to have warnings removed when it is felt they have served their purpose, and it is also possible to go directly to a banned state if a misdemeanour is serious enough to warrant it. (That generally happens to people who join for the sole intent of spamming these forums).

Also, "2 warnings". An indication that x more and they get banned?

When "Load images automatically" is disabled in Firefox, the alt attribute of images is rendered.
With several images, the alt text causes the page to render incorrectly.

Just thought you'd like to know.

P.S. With images disabled, it's a bit hard to logon.
