A bug in the Linux Kernel between 2.6.20 and 2.6.21.1 can be used to crash it. This kernel bug can be exploited by sending a malformed IPv6 packet. The kernel would drop it and write statistics, but the structures for which are not properly initialized. This would result in a Kernel crash. At least one exploit is publicly available.
Analysis: Many Linux flavors and devices come with IPv6 turned on by default. Users are recommended to turn off IPv6 support if not in use...
