hi, i want to install Ubuntu 7.04 on my external harddisk 500GB
i already filled it up for about 50% with crap, but i'll only need 5% of it for ubuntu, so i'll need to partitionate it

I have here a screenshot of the step where i'm unsure.
If i want to use 5% of the disk, should I do it this way?
(i know the selected radiobutton is right though, it's all about the slider)

i obviously don't want the 250gig of data be destroyed (it's backed up, though)

That option should work fine.

How many partitions do you have by the way?

I prefer the manual method of partitioning. The manual method can be a frightening experience for first timers, but there's a way to get around it if you don't understand the installation screen.

The installation screen will show your partition size. Using that as a guide, you will know what not to delete or format.
