In the never-ending and increasingly frustrating spam-battle, I've reserved my blacklist for wildcards of obvious domains and address strings. I had installed Gary's sample filters and was quite pleased with them. But, I wanted to turn off the automatic blacklisting. So I stopped MW (MWP 3.1) and edited the filters file. I got rid of the bounce and blacklist options in every filter. Consequently my blacklist is now controlled by me...

EXCEPT...

For some reason the following two filters continue to check the blacklist and bounce boxes...which I don't want: Crying or Very sad

[2] Ad/Spam Marker (S)
[2] My Name/E-mail* (F,S)

Both only have "mark for delete" selected in the filter edit but consistently (always?) will also mark the blacklist and bounce boxes. Anybody have any clues as to why this happens and how to fix it?

Thanks!

Are you using the DNS blacklist option, too? If so, when a message tests positive against a DNS blacklist, it is set for Delete, Bounce and Blacklist. This might explain what's happening.

No, but I did have heuristics set to medium. Will that do it too?

From MWP help:
"Choosing Careful will instruct MailWasher Pro to mark for Bounce and Delete all messages that it is almost certain are spam. Some spam-like messages may still slip through however."

Try setting it to None.

I think I'll keep them off as well as the DNS stuff. In general, I find that the filters do the job I want. Now if only the auto-delete worked with filters and not just with the Blacklist!

Thanks for your help!
