|
Does Mailwasher really stop spam from ever being sent to me ever again after a while or is it just to filter out all the spam? Trying to figure out a way to get rid of all the spam so sooner or later I can get rid of Mailwasher and not have to use it anymore. Like when all the spam mail thinks my email doesn't exist anymore.

You are never going to get rid of all the spam, spammers have many ways of finding your e-mail address and even if you got off every CD of 10,000,000 good e-mail addresses being sold you would soon end up on a new edition.
You can reduce the amount of spam you get in several ways.
- Make sure your e-mail address is not available anywhere on the web, try a Google search for it. Remove it where you can or disguise it. If someone else posted it ask them to change or remove it.
- Make sure your e-mail address never appears on usenet news groups. No way to get it off there.
- Make sure you don't forward jokes and such to friends that will forward them to friends who will at some point forward them to spammers. If you have to forward this stuff get a throw-away address like from Yahoo to use for it.
- Never give a website your real address, use a Yahoo one you can change easily. Some websites like this one protect your address quire well others don't there is no reason to worry, just use a Yahoo one and be safe.
- Try to get off the current spam lists, report everything to SpamCop and hope the spammers take you off their lists. Don't mangle your address so they know who to listwash. _________________ Questions? Try the wiki

After you follow Stan_qaz's advice, you could change your email address, choosing something that's unlikey to be guessed. For example, I might change mine to time.-.ghost@domain.com if necessary.

Tell me about it, I has my first name at one of my providers and it was on every spammers CD of good names to spam everewhere and often...
I dumped it and went to one easy for friends to recognize but not very guessable, not very typeable either but most folks pick it out of the address book anyway or just reply. _________________ Questions? Try the wiki
