MW shows all messages on the server.
Send/Recieve only checks for new messages.
Those that you've seen and done something with in OE (read and moved to other folders, etc.) but haven't deleted from the server are not 'new' to OE, so aren't downloaded again. MW, on the other hand, will show them all.
One solution is to set OE to not leave messages on the server once it's dowloaded them. That way, once OE's seen them, they'll not show up in MW again. To do that (from OE help):
1) On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
2) Click the e-mail account, and then click Properties.
3) Click the Adv\anced tab, and then DE-select Leave a copy of messages on server .

Thank you rogerw, I truly appreciate your time to reply.
I think that I understand what you are saying, but, I am new to MW, and not sure.
You see, these are new messages, and once in a while one or two won't download to the OE. I have no Rules now in OE, as I don't have suto-download from the server. Nothing gets downloaded to the OE unless I manuallly tell it to download (Send/Receive). It does not happpen all the time, but, when it does, it seems to be a message from someone on my Friends list.
This is just kinda confusing, and since I'm new to MW, I am not sure it I am not doing something right, or might not have something set up right.
Thank you very much for all your time and assistance, I truly do appreciate it.

That is a strange problem since normally OE and Mailwasher use the same method to look at the mail on the server.
Are you getting any connection or server errors in OE?
What are you using for a mail server? POP AOL...
What name do you have in the account for the server? mail.xyz.com
Sounds like OEis the problem not MailWasher since it sees all the mail and OE doesn't. _________________ Questions? Try the wiki

Hi stan,
"Are you getting any connection or server errors in OE?"
No, no errors, it just does not download to OE.
"What are you using for a mail server? POP AOL...

Pop.west.cox.net
I have to agree, I think the problem is more on the OE end of the curve. But, I was not sure if there was some sort of adjustment or setting I needed to make in MW in order for the messages to be properly downloaded by OE. I wanted to touch base on the MW end first, so if I have to go to OE, I will know that it is not on the MW end.
Thank you very much for your time to reply, and I do appreciate your help and input.

Windie, you must now have a good idea how often this happens. Try an experiment whereby you don't use MW to pre-screen your email, rather only use OE. How often does it happen then?
BTW, just click the quote button at the top right of the message you're responding to so as to start your message with the quotes you want to reference then delete whatever parts of the quoted text not relevant to your response. .... Or you could copy and paste into the text edit box, select the pasted text, and click the Quote button in the editor.

Hi Ikeb,
I have tried your test, and there are no messages left behind. See, I have webmail with my Cox, and I can check my account from the Internet before I download, and I can delete messages I don't want from there like I can from MW, and then run the Send/Receive when I open OE and get all the messages. So, I can see what is on the server, and what gets downloaded. I don't have any problem getting all the messages using just the OE. I have tried this for a while and all messges are being downloaded properly.
So, perhaps, there might be something in the relationship between the OE and MW somewhere if OE works ok by itself.
Thank you so much for your time to reply and your assistance. I really do appreciate it. _________________ aka Jan Il

I wonder if your server is deleting messages for some strange reason when being read by MWP. Have you noticed any pattern WRT message size? I.e. do short messages got deleted but not long, the opposite, or no correlation?

Hi Ikester,
It would appear that most of the ones that are not getting downloaded are small. I can open them and review them from the MW side, they just won't download to the OE when I do a manual download. They are still in the MW, I can go back from OE and they are still there, and I can open them there.
I have tried several times to get them to download into OE, but, they just won't. They are from different sources, most of them from friends or family. No attachments, or anything like that. _________________ aka Jan Il

Tink, try checking your mail a second time (F5) with MW. Do all messages still appear in the MW mail grid? If not, there's a problem with your ISP's server as far as I can see. If they still appear, I'm not sure what to suggest as a next step.

Hi Ikester,
I tried your test, the message is still there. And, no matter what I do, it just won't download to OE. I
can read it from MW if the message is short, but, it won't download.
In order to answer the message, I have to copy the text from the message in MW and then copy it into a new mail in OE to reply. _________________ aka Jan Il

Just a thought since I don't use OE...
Is it possible there is a filter rule or spam filter enabled in OE? That could drive you nuts!
I had a "move rule" in Outlook 2000 that was moving messages to another folder and it nearly drove me nuts until I found it and fixed it. _________________ Questions? Try the wiki

Hey stan,
I searched and searched all over, and as I had already deleted all the OE Rules when I switched to MW full time, there were no Rules to cause any problems.
'k...so....ya ready for this?? I thought of only one other place to look. So, I went to the Blocked Senders list. Yeppers...some how when getting all the Swens 'n Spams and doing all the Block Senders, I somehow got some of my friends and family e-mails in with the others, and they got added to the Block Senders list. So....it would *seem* that when I tried to manually download the messages from these people from the MW they would not download because they were in the Mail Blocked list. I deleted my entire Blocked Sender list as I don't need it any more with the MW.
The messages would still not download when I tried a manual download afterward. So I just deleted the old messages still in MW, emailed a couple of my friends whose messages would not download before, and asked them to send me a new one. When they showed up in the MW list, I went to OE and did a manual download and...Voila!!
Now, all I have to do is hope the Pete and the Boys don't find out..they'll never let me live it down... <sigh>
Thank all of you for all so much your time and help, I really do appreciate it. [/quote]

One more item to check in OE, I use Outlook so not sure how this is handled in OE although I am somewhat familiar with other differences that deal with filters.
Check to see that your Junk Filters are not enabled even though you have all the rest of the regular filters disabled.
Also are you using any type of proxy sitting between OE and the ISP (antivirus, spam stopper, etc.), which will give different characteristics since MWP is most likely doing a direct run.
