I was looking at a friends AIM info box, and it had a link in it saying it had my SN's pictures- I thought they were being cute, but it seems she got hijacked as well. Symptoms: when I load my PC up I my syswin32(I think) folder comes up, opened, and there are two random pop up ads. there is a also a search bar on my browser, similar to the google bar.

Here's what you need to do to sort your problem. First hold down Ctrl-Alt-Del to open the Task Manager. Now find the process called av.exe and press End Task. Then close all browser windows and run HijackThis again and fix the following:

I am unfamiliar with it.

If you are unsure what it is, have HJT fix it the same way as above.
Find the file:
C:\WINDOWS\CGJ.exe
right click on it > properties > version.

For some reason it didn't show up in the windows directory even after I view hidden files- I did file search and found it embedded in this zip file:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\nCase2.zip

No earthly idea.

Seems as though Spybot took care of it then.
Now have HJT fix the startup entry and then reboot.

Turn off System Restore.
On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*.
Click Apply, and then click OK.
