im running win98 and now IE6 (ive updated)
I have been hyjacked twice by global finder and similar. this time NOTHING I read on here fixed anything. no shredder, no following endless lists of fix this, delete that. (first time i managed to fix it) Second time oh my god what a nasty strain i got - NOTHING fixed it and I tried everything - all the fixes praised by others as working didnt work for me. I was stumped.
In the end i ended up making my own nuclear fix -- deleting entire registry for IE, all IE files and folders etc - i just went mental. reinstalling as well as clearing out start up programs, virus checking bla bla bla.
it seems to have gone now. i have spent countless hours rebuilding my machine, cleaning it out etc (god knows it needed it. in 4 years ive been too lazy to do any updates etc)
i have updated all security patches etc from windows.com, installed new versions of virus killers, start up protectors, downloaded 4mb or norton updates!! etc etc
is this enough or are these trojans getting so bad that i should just give up surfing anything outside very trusted sites??
is it possible to protect your machine from reinfection from these nasty trojans??? how??
Cheers guys
J
