That's easy enough. I thought that it was more complicated then that.

Attention: BLScanPlus "Pro" users!
The Microsoft .NET Framework is now out of Beta. To coincide with the release of .NET Framework 2, a new version of BLScanPlus "Pro" is now available.
All required information is on the "Pro" download page on my site (see the ProZone at www.dogsbyte.com ). The new version of "Pro" is also no longer a Beta version and all reported issues have been fixed.
If you're wonder what BLScanPlus "Pro" is, visit my site or see the screenshots at www.dogsbyte.com/proscreenshots.html
Note: If you were previously using the .NET Framework Beta release, you will need to uninstall it before downloading the new release. _________________ BLScanPlus - A collection of free utilities for use with MailWasher.

I would love to see this as part of mailwasher. This is definetly one weakness in the program. Maybe for version 6.1??

I have now installed BLScanPlus Classic.
When I try to run the first option BLScan I get:
| Quote: | Error: Cannot create backup file in BLScanBackup directory/folder.
Check that a folder called BLScanBackup exists in the
current folder, also check file and folder permissions. |
Needless to say the folder BLScanBackup is there and there are no folder permission problems.
When I start Filemon from www.sysinternals.com and look at the file system access attempts BLScanPlus tries to do I see:
| Quote: |
2790 11:15:38 blscanplus.exe:1424 OPEN D:\Program Files\BLScanPlus\Program\ SUCCESS
2791 11:15:38 blscanplus.exe:1424 DIRECTORY D:\Program Files\BLScanPlus\Program\ SUCCESS
2792 11:15:38 blscanplus.exe:1424 OPEN D:\Program Files\BLScanPlus\Program\ SUCCESS
2793 11:15:38 blscanplus.exe:1424 DIRECTORY D:\Program Files\BLScanPlus\Program\ SUCCESS
2794 11:15:38 blscanplus.exe:1424 CLOSE D:\Program Files\BLScanPlus\Program\ SUCCESS
2795 11:15:38 blscanplus.exe:1424 CREATE D:\Program Files\BLScanPlus\Program\BLScanBackup\BLBckup_208\1\03111529_Blacklist.txt PATH NOT FOUND
2796 11:15:38 blscanplus.exe:1424 OPEN D:\Program Files\BLScanPlus\Program\BLScanBackup\BLBckup_208\1\ PATH NOT FOUND |
Huh???
Is this program supposed to "work as designed"??
I have manually created the folders BLBckup_208\1 and the above error message no longer occured.
But when the BLScan actually starts the BLScanPlus window vanishes without a trace and nothing happens.
Not great.
OK, so I thought I should try the Pro version.
So, I installed the BLScanPlusPro version and started it. The window appears but when I select BLScan and click on Start I get a nice little window which says:
| Quote: | | BLScanPlusPro has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. |
Well, I am sorry too!!
Can anybody tell me why none of the BLScanPlus programs are running correctly on my system?
Am I the only one seeing such problems?
I run WinXP Professional with SP2. And I have .NET 3.5 and MWPro 6.1 installed. _________________ Regards,

I have now found the problem why BLScanPlus Classic was not working on my system.
I have set the date separator character to / (slash) in Regional and Language Options in the Control Panel.
After I changed this to - (hyphen) BLScanPlus Classic worked.
But this is still a bug IMHO. Or it should be mentioned in the FAQ or README. _________________ Regards,

Gagome,
I can add that to the FAQ page, but fixing it would be better and may be easier.
As regards the second problem, I havent seen that problem before, but it could be related. One of the first things that happens when starting BLScan (in the Pro version) is the creation of the timestamp. That timestamp is generated from the exact same code as used in the Classic version. So those particular lines would seem like good candidates for the source of the problem. From memory, the date information is obtained through a Windows function.
I'll take a deeper look... _________________ BLScanPlus - A collection of free utilities for use with MailWasher.

Toucan,
Thanks for your quick reply.
The second problem with BLScanPlus Pro is gone too after I changed the date separator character to - (hyphen). _________________ Regards,
