Hello all
I have ad-aware 2007. When I do a scan it finds
tracking cookies. I put a check mark beside all cookies found
click remove and finish. Then I can scan again and they are still there. I checked them again clicked remove and finish rebooted
my comp and ran ad-aware again and they are still there.
Before I scan if I use explorer and firefox tools to remove all
cookies then they do not show up.
How do I get ad-aware to remove the tracking cookies it finds?
If I have to remove all my cookies via firefox/explorer
then it seems to me ad-aware isnt really useful.

By the way under settings, scanning,cleaning engine I have a green check in the box "let windows remove files at start up" but
it is not removing them.
Can someone help me with this?

I am assuming that you are using XP, and the question that follows that assumption is, are you logged on as an Admin? Are you logged in the profile that the cookies are showing up under? Is there more than one user profile on this machine?

I am running xp
There is only one profile.
I also run defender, crap cleaner.super antispyware
and spybot search & destroy along with AVG.
If any of above finds anything they are removed just fine. I used to have ad-aware se before I updated to
ad-aware 2007. I didnt have this problem with se version.
For what its worth I researched this problem before my original post (google) and found others had this same problem but I couldnt find a solution. From my searching it seems this may be a common problem for ad-aware 2007 users.

If you have it set, turn off the update definitions file at startup (in the auto scans tab in the settings area) and also turn off the adwatch part of AdAware (set it not to start with AdAware). Those are the two things I can think of that may inter fear with the removal of files at startup.

The update definitions file was already off.
Under performance tuning I turned off deactivate ad watch. I did a scan.It found tracking cookies I clicked
remove and finish. Then I scanned again and they were gone.
Should I leave the red x beside deactivate ad watch all the time or should I turn it back on (green check)
while on internet but turn it off, do my scan & remove tracking cookies then turn it back on?
What does ad watch do?

Ad-watch is a realtime spyware-monitor watching your memory and registry for spyware that tries to install or change your system.

Strange reaction that you had. All I can tell you is how I do it. I leave it on all the time. I am not sure if I am paranoid enough that I have not gotten an infection for a long while (the last bug I for sure caught was the stoned B Virus, and I was using DOS 5). But from what I have had folks do while helping them clean their systems, leave it on, and only turn it off if something is being resistant to removal, as happened this time.

I will turn adwatch back on and only turn it off for scans & removals.
I just did another scan and it was clean.
