lol - yeah. There is also a semi-famous mall named after him as well, as well as other things too.
And, again, thanks for the concern - undoubtedly there are people out there who would actually do something like that.... _________________ <img src="http://www.castlecops.com/zx/johnlgalt/johnlgalt%20sig.png">

rotf - never occurred to me, as I am single, never married and have no kids - good point though!
Kinda makes for a good idea, then, to promote the site where I got mine made - you can get a signature that looks *close* to your own without it actually being your own - but even close can be misused - most ppl who require a signature, even with newer electronic systems, don't really perform any sort of signature verification at all....
I guess the best practice is to simply not use your real name online except where it is absolutely required (government sites, such as IRS, Financial Aid, and banking sites that you have direct ties to and bank with). _________________ <img src="http://www.castlecops.com/zx/johnlgalt/johnlgalt%20sig.png">

It's clearly obvious that this is not any sort of priority, except, perhaps, for those that would like to see it, and for those of us lead to believe over the last 5+ years that this is easily doable.
If it is not possible, or not something simple to implement, then I think it prudent to just say so, and in turn, what the intentions of the site are with this issue. If it will not be implemented, please say so and close the thread - no big deal! Really!
If it is something simple, but just not in the interest of the site to implement, then it would be prudent to say that too. Then close the thread and the issue will be dead. Some of us won't be happy, but oh well! It's just a signature.
Bottom line, if the status of this request and the site's intent is made public, the public will not feel ignored or strung along for even more "years". And then site will not be bothered by such petty annoyances and thread bumps either. Win - win. _________________

As of the past couple of weeks I've been implementing SQL changes in the infrastructure (you may have noticed the outages). In an attempt to improve SQL access times, it appears moving to a character limit > 255 will require additional development both in the PHP code and in SQL. Permitting it in the current form is simply a bandaid, and I'm not going to divert my time on that.
Simply put, my time has been growing the IRT tools such that the handlers can save time in their investigations, while simultaneously increasing the effectiveness of our intelligence gathering and preservation for law enforcement. Unfortunately, there have also been a great deal of effort placed into administrative development to protect the well being of the site.
Programming the signature evolution is a bonus right now -- so there is no time frame. I had hoped originally that the backend increase would have "fixed" it, but unfortunately it failed.
I apologize for my cold shoulder.

While I certainly appreciate all the work and accomplishments of all those involved in various aspects of the IRT tools, and the efforts needed to keep a site of this size running, the foundations of this site, including the IRT side of the house, was built on the backbones of the forum volunteers - through your guidance. Perhaps it is time to delegate some of your duties and responsibilities to spread out the workload. I know there have been several eminently qualified and trustworthy individuals who have offered to help but were turned down or received no response. Sadly, some have moved on, but others are still around and may still be willing to help.
Too much on one's plate is unhealthy and stressful individually, and for those in the same sphere of existence. | Quote: | | ...there is no time frame. | That suggests to me it is not a dead issue. Perhaps letting it lay dormant over the next couple months will give time for other pressing matters. My hope is that new issues and special projects will not be piled on the plate before the old issues are addressed. _________________

We've been promoting folks to positions like forum admin and site mod to help in site administration. But that doesn't involve the development side of the house.
Your last paragraph is a worthy concern. I've suspended the launching of new projects and focused instead of the current ones.
The signature issue is not terminated. It among one other item related to the users information has to evolve and when I'm finally able to attend to it, that will be a fine day. But for now, I must needs make sure knowledge flows properly at the site to all those concerned. _________________ Paul Laudanski - http://www.laudanski.com

Two inches of snow here this morning in southern England.....
And I guess it will be 2009 before the 'was 2007 a good year' survey is replaced!

In the meantime, I b0rked my signature line again, and am not sure how / why it did not render as it should. ISTR that there was some sort of weird he code after teh image tag, but apparently this changes from user to user, so that I cannot use someone else's hex tag for my signature. Barring me finding it on an old Google page, I am not sure what to do to get the pics back.... _________________ <img src="http://www.castlecops.com/zx/johnlgalt/johnlgalt%20sig.png">
