|
|
Hi All,
I've been trying to download complainterator for about 30 minutes, but only the download for V18 / 19 works, not version 21.
Can someone please supply a download link that doesn't send out a 0 byte file?
Cheers,
Mikey

Complainterator V21 can be downloaded from the announcement at the top of this message thread.
It can also be downloaded from http://www.complainterator.com

Unfortunately it is still happening from time to time; again, when new mail arrives during message formatting.

What happens under such circumstances? Do you have a new mail arrival alert that pops up a window that steals the focus from an existing window? Can you screen capture it when it happens?
If that is the case, perhaps there is some way of preventing such annoying behavior. In my experience, any pop-up that takes focus is a poor implementation, sice anyone keying data into a field can suddenly find themselves keying it into the wrong application.

No, it's just a balloon that appears near the systray. It doesn't steal focus, but it stalls Outlook for a few seconds. And it's usually a group of three or four messages arriving at a time, so Outlook gets stalled for ten seconds or more.
I will try to disable the notification balloons and see if this improves the situation.

I think this is related to the problem I reported in the Set-Up thread; I was getting partially composed messages or blank messages.
I haven't checked if you've mentioned it above, but I assume the messages are already mixed up by the time they get to the Archive. That was not the case with me, but nonetheless I think the cause is similar.
I had a lot of processes running on an old machine and it couldn't keep up - I could sometimes see the messages being composed character by character. My work-around was to use Thunderbird rather than Outlook as my email client, and it completely fixed it.
However, now I take the composed messages from the Complainterator archive and tweak them, then sending them via Outlook.

But yea, if possible try turning off the new mail checking in Outlook, and see if that fixes the problem...? Or, increase the delay between checking for new mail, so the "check" doesn't occur so often, and likely, not within a complainterator report run, which usually only takes maybe 1 minute, give or take, depending on how many nameservers there are.

Cannot generate report for the following domain: gstseminars.com.ua - it appears as if Complainterator cannot understand the output from either who.is nor DNSstuff.

The problem is that the .ua whois server isn't cooperating. Who.is is looking up com.ua, not gstseminars.com.ua. It does list the address of the .ua
whois server:
https://hostmaster.net.ua/?domadv
You have to enter gstseminars and choose ".com.ua" on the pulldown menu.
I tried pausing Complainterator and changing to the window with the results to see if it would scrape the information off this page the way it would who.is, but it just hung. So I think you just have to do this one manually.

May I add a suggestion for the next Complainterator version?
I think we all see that wave of unprecedented software piracy spams (with domains mostly hosted by Moniker). Complainterator in the past has guessed when a domain was used for software piracy - e.g. when the characters "oem" were present in the domain name, and a number of known piracy report addresses were added to the Cc list.
With this current wave of piracy sites, there is no guessing that the names are in any way connected with software piracy.
Suggestion: add a checkbox to indicate that the current domain is used for software piracy, and generate the piracy report addresses on both domain and name server notification messages.

P.S. Addition to my above suggestion: the new checkbox should always be off when Complainterator starts; checking the box should only remain for the current run (do not save the checkbox value).

Global Systems Training in the Ukraine - is that an illegal site, or did it appear in a spam?

Just want to bring to your attention that http://complainterator.com/download.html says that the latest complainterator version is 20.0 while this thread says the latest version is 21.2 .
Thanks. It is 21.4 as of 15 May. Header updated
