Hi everybody,
i'm running vista, and lately my laptop is restaring quite often,
honestly, i even don't why...
can it be vista stuff, "defending" me from itself-malware?
any help would be appreciated.

How old is your laptop? Is it dusty? Are the fans working properly? Does it get very hot?
Does it completely shut down or just restart? Are there any error codes?

It's quite new (10 months or so)...
it doesn't show any errors just reboots,
especially in the morning (when i turn on it).
I wouldn't say it's hot...
i don't have any external HD...

Check the Event Viewer. Start->Run->eventvwr.msc->Windows Logs->System
View for an error. Probably something that says System Error (or something to the likes) or Kernel Error.

There are lot's of them.
What the source might be;
cdrom, disk, virtual disk service, servicing
i can't install updates (but used to), error number 0x8007371c

I'm a little confused on if you resolved this or not, however, it sounds like you are most definitely having an hardware issue.
While it is still under manufacturer warranty you're going to want to get in contact with them about this issue.
I'd recommened finding out what HDD your computer has and downloading and running their tests.

If it is under warranty I say contact the manufacturer - if there is any chance of hardware failure (which, at this point, there is, as far as we can tell) then you want it replaced before the warranty runs out and you're stuck with a lemon for the next several years.
Spending more time here will more likely than not be fruitless as we are not able to get hands on with the computer, and time keeps ticking....

No, i haven't solved it yet.
Since i've moved i even do not know where the documents for this laptop are.
However, it seems to be the only solution, so i'm gonna find it.
But, how can I find out what HDD my computer has (would appreciate step by step) and could my please link to any time-tested diagnostic utility (it would be great if you have tried it yourself)?
