I bought an older version of Norton Internet Security from PC World. It was a 2005 version. I've tried to install it and it gets to a point where it needs to uninstall an older version but can't so asks me to try and uninstall it manually using the add/remove section in the control panel. I've looked in there and there's no Norton products to remove. I can rememer removing some Norton products from there a while back when they ran out and I wasn't sure what security I was going to get. There is however a LiveReg (Symantec Corporation) icon there which can't be removed. When I try it says that it can't be removed because Norton Internet Security requires this component. This means to me that there Norton Internet Security is still on my system but I can't find it to remove it. Is there another way of finding it to remove it so then I can install the version I've got? Thanks, Alex

Howdy,

You need to run the Norton removal tool that you can get here:

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

and then install again. Read the directions carefully before running this program.

Due to design changes in Vista, Norton Internet Security 2005 will not function properly. You have to have a 2007 version at a minimum for Vista compatibility.

My laptop was working quite well speed wise before I installed Norton Internet Security but now it takes ages to load and when opening up internet pages and etc it takes too long. Is there anything I can do to speed up my laptop? Thanks, Alex

Please, one topic for one issue, and also use the proper forum. I have merged this topic with your other topic, and they are now in the correct forum.
