I've seen posts from one or two people who have "currently banned" under their user names. Seems like an oxymoron of sorts; if they're currently banned how can they be posting?
Also, "2 warnings". An indication that x more and they get banned?

I think you will find that the posts from "currently banned" members were made before the ban. If that's not the case then perhaps you could provide a link so we can check it out.

Yep!
Although it is possible to have warnings removed when it is felt they have served their purpose, and it is also possible to go directly to a banned state if a misdemeanour is serious enough to warrant it. (That generally happens to people who join for the sole intent of spamming these forums).
I like your inquisitiveness - it makes us reflect on our policies and working methods!

Yes, I know that my first post and my last both contain the exact same information, so now I see that all posts of user X would be updated to "currently banned". I especially enjoy CastleCops because my questions are willingly answered with intelligence and courtesy. I am receiving an amazing education here!
