1) Getting blue screen with destop icons still showing. Screen reads as follow: Warning: Spyware threat has been detected on your PC. Your computer has several fatal errors due to spyware activity. It is strongly recommended to install an antispyware software to close all security vulnerabilities. Antispyware software helps protect your PC against spyware and other security threats. CLICK HERE TO SCAN YOUR PC FOR SPYWARE. IE is disabled, cannot access the internet.

2) Used HTJ, VundoFix(not sure I needed this b/c I didn't see any Vundo in my HJT log), Spybot S&D, CCleaner and TrojanHunter. I could not get any updates for these program since internet access was blocked. I had to put them on a scan disk, save them to the desktop, then install and run. TrojanHunter found 7 trojans.

3) Did the Malware removal/prevention and still am not any better off.

You are currently using an unpatched version of Microsoft XP. It is CRITICAL that you update to Service Pack 1a.

Please visit this link: Microsoft Service Pack 1a
and follow the directions for Express Installation under "Installing SP1a on Your Computer".

IMPORTANT: DO NOT update to Service pack 2. Doing so before your computer is malware free can cause Windows to become unstable. We will update to SP2 when your system is clean.

Please post a new HJT log after you have updated to SP1a. If you have difficulty with the update, please post the exact error message. A 1st Responder or Security Expert will then help you as soon as possible.

I downloaded SP1a to scan disk, tried to open it on the desktop. Getting this message from Symantec Client firewall: sfqxszyz.exe is trying to access the internet. asking me to permit or block.

Also getting a Service Pack 1 Setup Error.

The following error occurred while Service Pack 1 Setup attempted to download the Service Pack 1 files from the internet: The server name or address could not be resolved.

Whatever is going on, I cannot access the internet.
I need to somehow resolve this situation first

Use the "Network Installation" instead , this will download everything you need .

If need be download it on another computer and burn it to a CD .

Figured out there was a problem with my internet connection. I was able to install the Service Pack 1a, waiting for it to finish. I wil then post a new HJT Log

Keep getting this message: Internet Explorer cannot find the Active Desktop HTML file. This file is needed for your Active Desktop. To turn off Active Desktop, click OK......I click ok and the message keeps comig back.

The setup wizard says updating your system, the details say: Running processes after install

Closed out desktop.
