This happens every so often, but it's never been a big deal until now. When I boot up my computer (Dell XPS 410), and get to the login screen, I try to put in my password, but the keyboard is not responding. I tried restarting, turning the computer on and off, and unplugging the USB-connection for the keyboard, but it still will not respond. It's like it's just frozen. When this used to happen in the past, it would be frozen until I either disconnect and reconnect it, or if I wait a minute or so, it'll suddenly come to life, but it is simply not doing anything besides keeping the Scroll Lock light frozen on.

The keyboard is simply the generic Dell keyboard that came with the computer when I bought it.

I would try another keyboard - perhaps a PS/2 model. If it does it there too, you know the problem is not with USB.

I was able to resolve this issue using Windows' "Last Known Good Settings" option at bootup.
