Hi Hoov
I went into msconfig and switched them off at start-up. Internet time I just switched off in 'adjust date & time'.

Earlier, I switched on the pc but forgot to switch on the wireless modem/ router earlier and all was quite but as soon as I switched on the modem it started up. Could it be something to do with incoming info or modem setting (although I have added primary, secondary and just about any other set of ip addresses on the router control panel into the trusted zone)?

Sorry for the late reply, my fingers swelled up and I couldn't type.

Try turning them off using the services section of the Admin tools.

And it very well could be the router and the computer talking together that have absolutely nothing to do with the internet. Check in your router and turn off any kind of broadcasting. Do you have it set to write a log to your computer?
