hello all hope your all well, i have a dsl modem that i have had since 2003 and for the first few years i had it there was no problem at all, now since then i have gotten 2 routers first one was a wired one, i think i still have a post on here about that one ha ha, anyway, about a year or so ago my uncle gave me a wireless router and a wireless card to go with it, well every time the phone rings the internet some times goes out, now i have found out that the phone we use is 2.4ghz, which will be changed out soon, but also i just moved to the top floor of the house and i took the dsl modem and the router with me and now the internet goes out even more, there are filters on every phone jack in the house yet it still does it, is there anything else that might be causeing it? please let me know if anyone has any ideas and thanks in advance for any help/advice.

The modem may be bad.

I know I recently got stumped by something like this too Smile About a year ago I made a post here asking about upgrading my Wireless B network, I thought my wireless B router was "shot" - our three wireless computers would loose connection when viewing certain sites, or certain pages.

I.E. pages on myspace.com that had "excessive graphics" (read: lots of outgoing connections....?)

Some streaming sites (but not youtube....surprisingly).

And some other "randoms"

The wireless connected machines would lose internet access until we power-cycled the router. BUT, the main system, directly connected to the modem/router never got disconnected...

Which is why I thought it was the router.

So, last week my brother called up HellSouth while I was at work, told them what was happening, etc....(it seemed to happen a lot during rainstorms too......no idea why, then I got to thinking there was badly shielded cables somewhere....lol)

Anyways, they sent us out a new motorola "DSL Modem/Router" (I set it to bridge mode, to wire up my linksys wireless router ofc.

No random disconnects ever since Razz

So, I'd say, if possible, check/swap out the modem itself.

BTW, we still got 2.4 phones here, microwave too (downstairs though....) and we don't disconnect when they ring.

Another possibility would be a bad DSL filter....? I don't know, probably wouldn't hurt to ask your phone company....
