Has anyone noticed a big change in the type of spam that is being recieved?
For a while I've been telling people that my spam levels have been falling but recently I've noticed a general increase. Spam related to fake watches, porn, viagra and all the usual stuff that I've been receiving for years has fallen off dramatically. I also see less phishes than I used to.
But the amount 419 spam has risen to a level I've never seen before with perhaps ten each day, in the past I would have seen less than three or four in a week. I'm now asking myself has KnujOn been successful in reducing what I call traditional or conventional spam and I am now experiencing increases in the type of spam that KnujOn doesn't get involved with and merely forwards elsewhere?
Is there anywhere that I can forward these 419 spams to and get feedback on successes? In the past I've sent them to Fraud Aid and now Fraudwatch International but there seems to be nothing on their respective web-sites to indicate when they are successful stopping any of the scams.

I was curious of the same thing....
With the CastleCops Bulk Spam Reporting that's been going on, blitzing some of the top spam-friendly registrars with abuse reports "in bulk" (to make it easier for them to act, of course - since these spam domains all look the same - well, different names, but usually the same end resulting content....).
I wouldn't doubt it if they try moving towards 419/depositscams....
With deposit scamming, 419, advance fee fraud, whatever else you wanna call it, I'm sure it's less maintenance.....all they require is a handful of zombied machines to send out forged e-mails, and a handful of "free" e-mail accounts (gmail, hotmail, yahoo, msn, live, 163.com, need I go on....?)
Perhaps, next up in line will be blitzing the top 'free e-mail services' to get them to act quicker on suspending malicious mailboxes, linked with fraudulent e-mails....hehehe.

I have begun receiving basicly the same junk, only in the Spanish language. Hardly get anything in English anymore. Until a short time ago, it was just the opposite. Horrific Spanish grammar, just like in English.

For your 419-related spams, you could try http://forum.419eater.com. However, I should warn you that scambaiting is very time-consuming! _________________ Chris Souter
