|
|
Hello,
I'm helping a buddy of mine out with his computer...one of the things he asked me to do was install a new DVD drive for him so he can copy stuff instead of having to rip it and then burn it...I ordered him the ASUS DVD-E818A/A6/QT_B+W...when i installed it and turned the computer on, it froze on the XP welcome screen...i tried pressing the power button and nothing happened so i pulled the plug...i turned the computer on again and it froze again, this time while searching for the master drive...without the drive in, all is well...
Also, he's running XP SP2
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi hotblooded,
How is the drive connected:
Primary or secondary channel?
Master, slave?
Jumpers set to master, slave or cable select?
What else is connected to the same channel?
If possible, try connecting it as the only device on the secondary channel with the jumpers set to Master.
Note to others: Please jump in if you have any advice as I am suffering site performance issues at the moment and cannot always post. _________________ Never stop learning
