Another good one. Thanks, Paul. This site only gets better and better. Now, just don't figure out something to reveal my house address and I'll be happy. image

LOL... I'll try not to. Heck, its all for free.. and I hope it helps to build a community... especially in these forums. I'll wait until the end of the year, and if there is no growth, then my vision for the site has failed IMO.

Glad you like the tool.

As for the scanners, new versions will be active soon which will allow you to choose a range of ports to scan.

In addition, I should have a WHOIS module up sometime.

It's not just one, but a set of four, and the required lists...

Also made a booboo, JakBeNymble is the original author, Jor assisted...

The problem is not so much posting the filters, but the explanations, it's posted at Arne's site and the topic spans two pages already with heaps of info and explanation...I'll better ask Jak to let himself post it here too...

It sure is a cool filterset. The link to the topic over at my place is http://asp.flaaten.dk/pforum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=539 but of course after the DoS attack on my site, one has to be logged in to be able to browse the forums.

Arne, was the attack from different IPs? I'm thinking a block using htaccess?

There were 100's of IPs involved. It's an IIs server an no .htaccess, but I did filter most of them out and closed the forum for guests so that the repeated reloads did not involve the database at all.

How long did the attack go on for, and what was the result on your system?

It went on for many days. At the end I did not bother to check and just had my logs downloaded to my computer. They blew my ISP off the net for a few hours until my, now previous, ISP took my site offline.

Does your current provider offer protection or quick response?

Yes, so they told me. I asked around and ended up with this new ISP I am on now. I told them about the attacks and what was going on and they offered full protection against this kind of stuff. The new ISP has had a few problems when transferring my domain, but I stuck with them anyway. They are friendly and gave me 1½ year for only US$ 45 with asp, php, cgi etc etc.
