 Ditto to the above, and additionally if there is new mail there should be an option to display a "new mail" visual dialog box which will show through an operating sreen saver.

That would be great! No sound, no flashing icon unless there is mail left to see.

That would be great..hate it, new mail sound, you look, no mail to display because it is hidden..
First check for blacklist and filters,if anything left, then sound alarm, not first sound alarm and then blacklist or delete it.

Yeah, having a flashing icon nagging me then I have to double-click it [1] and see the barely visible flickering animation then theres no email there! (display known spam is not enabled). I have to click process mail and it minimizes with that flickering animation; more time wasted grrrr
1. (confusing with some tray icons need singleclick while others need double click, I double click asingle click tray icon and I get two tray programs up, annoying and waste of time)
oh this program could be so efficient, saving me lots of time/annoy

If you put a mailwasher icon on your QuickLaunch area of the Start Bar you can open mailwasher from the system tray with a single click.

I just popped in to see if there was an update yet. That mail sound is really annoying isn't it? You have to look, and then there's nothing there because it has been processed already! Arggh. So please can you do something soon.

Simon - you can disable or change the sound of new mail notification.
to disable - mailwasher>>tools>>options>>untick "play sound when new mail arrives"
or you can change the sound:
control panel>>sounds>>new mail notification>>use whatever wav file you like.
