I'd really like to be able to select my email client rather than using the registry setting. I have to use Groupwise for work matters, but I use The Bat for all other stuff and would love to be able to define it as my default client for Mailwasher.

In a related vein, I suggested setting email clients by account... and now I see where we could have a drop down menu like on Check Mail button... to launch primary client (by defautl, if you hit main button) or select from each account's clients... or "All". Smile

Under Tools >> Options >> Specify >> you can select any program (email client or not) to open after Mailwasher Processes Mail.

We do not have a feature on the cards for being able to open multiple e-mail programs, though we will consider this.

Thanks... I really like the idea of a drop-down list from the check mail button! (please? Smile )

Well, ... maybe there is ... sort of.

In MWP 3.1, under { Tools >> Options >> General (tab) >> Launch email program after processing (checkbox) >> Specify... (button) } there are two options:

"Use a preconfigured mail client"
"Specify a mail client command"

What I'm thinking is that you could set up two clients here, and select one before "processing". If the client is configured to automatically check mail on startup, the chance of another message being received between processing and download is as low as it can get.

( Yes, it could still happen, but you're never going to eliminate that possibility entirely unless you created a "plug-in" version of MW/P that could sit between the client and the mail server ... kind of like b9 does now ... ) Confused

Then you come back to MW/P, switch the setting to the other client, check and process again.

OK, it's less than perfect, but it might get you there for now. Perhaps someone who has this situation could try this and post their findings here?

{In my best Columbo impression ...} Just one more thing ... how about, instead of specifying a mail client for each account, having a "Mail Client" dropdown at the top of the Accounts window, and being able to define a list of accounts for each client? OK, it might mean taking the account info out of the Registry and putting it back in an .ini (or .cfg, or .txt) file - like I'd ever complain about not storing something in the registry, doh! - but something like:

Code:

Contents of Accounts.ini

[Outlook]
[Joe]
;remember password

email=joeblow(at)hotmail.com
server={server}
user=joeblow
remember={encrypted password}
bounce=1

email=cutelitldevl(at)inthecity.org

... and so on, might not be so bad, eh?
