i just got rid of a couple of trojans, but there's something thats been going wrong on my boot up. i'll restart my computer, get past the login screen (oh, by the way: windows xp with sp2) and then the desktop image will come up. at this point, it kind of stops doing anything noticable onscreen. the desktop icons take a long while to show up, the start menu and taskbar at the bottom dont show up for a while either. this while can be anything from a few seconds to 30-45 seconds. the harddrive doesnt sounds like its doing anything in this time either. i would be inclined to think that i just had too much crap on my desktop or that the image was big or something, but im not sure. help?

here are the previous posts i made concerning my trojans:

hello
does it finaly boot up?
crap cleaner
CastleCops Link/downloads-file-355.html

try any of these you have not allready?
Download and install the newest version http://safer-networking.org/en/ (1.3.1 TX){DSO false positive fix patch} of SpyBot Search and Destroy http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4392.html - Note: If you have been using SpyBot S&D for some time, chances are you have version 1.2. For some unknown reason, the 1.2’s update feature does not alert you to the new version so you must download and install the new from the link above. Also, download and install AdAware http://lavasoft.element5.com/support/download/ - there are free versions of each. Before scanning, use each programs’ update option to get the latest signature files, then scan, using SpyBot first.
-------
pick "one" of the trojin scanners. more if not solved.
a² Free is also a good malware cleaner and can be downloaded from: http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/download/?
TrojanHunter (trial) CastleCops CastleCops Link/downloads-file-83.html Excelent app!
ewido trojin scanner CastleCops CastleCops Link/downloads-file-357.html (w2k-xp only)has free version.
--------
Use "one" of these free on-line scanners (note some spyware, viruses and trojins have been known to disable PC based AV scanners):
http://housecall.trendmicro.com or firefox friendly http://uk.trendmicro-europe.com/enterprise/products/housecall_launch.php http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm.

actually, i already currently run most of those programs. i use zonealarm and AVG, plus i run spyware guard and spywareblaster, as well as ewido. in the previous threads, i had already run the online housecall thing. my computer seems to be free of any noticeable viruses and trojans. i'm kind of in the dark as to how to use crapcleaner, though. does it automatically do the cleaning when i run the program and press run cleaner? and yes, it does eventually boot up, it just takes a while.

doesnt seem to be anything wrong when i ran the scan, its goes through fine and doesnt pop up any alerts. i'm wondering if the ewido scan is slowing down my boot up, because the problem didnt start until after then. as of this point, the problem is kind of diminishing, but i still want to make sure that there was nothing wrong.
