1st main frame - Zebra, 1st media - punched paper tape on a TTY (on DEC), 1st micro - Texas 9000, 1st office PC - IBM, twin big floppies.

Twin V-6 Diesels. Used to put out a few hundred horses each.
I don't remember the exact specs off the top of my head,
because EM wasn't my primary rate. We all just had to know
enough to make everything work in case the EM was greased -- and then again, it was a looooooooooong time ago!

Why do you ask? Were you over there too? If so,
who were you with / and when? Just curious...

Did most of my private flying training and pleasure flying over East Anglia, out of Andrewsfield and over lots of bases, calling in at Old Buckenham, Norwich, overflying Wattisham, Bentwaters et al. Even the ploughed up fields still show vestiges of the familiar three-runway triangles that were wartime standard here.

Hey thanks H, that was cool. I had forgot just how many air fields there were. If it had comm and US Forces attached I went there (I inspected each US comm facility each year for 3 years while there - from Portsmouth to Fraserburg). There used to be a really nice nude beach near Portsmouth - I certainly remember that!

And then I remember those %^&* midges up north.

ran some desial generaters up north that had those. all i had to know was how to watch temps,oil presure,rpm water temps, oils and coolent levals and read a pocket book or two a shift. has an air compressor with the v-10 alison i beleave it was long long ago. ingersal rand compressor. i read many thousand books on that job. allmost rembered the make of generator lol
never even knew they made v-6,s . saw a few older caterpiler type tracktors with alison stright 6 desiels. they were old back than. still did there job. most likely sittin at botom of muskeg after they were no longer usefull.

I'm sure ours are on the bottom of all those canals in the
Mekong Delta too, by now!

Hi I don't mean to take this thread off-topic or anything, but...

BITS & WU...I had some conflict with this earlier in the week when trying to get SP2. I first needed others before that, initially being the BITS update. I couldn't however get this to work, despite following the MS instructions, such as activating BITS in the services console and also registering the said DLLs. To no avail.

Only when (by trial & error) I shut off the Windows Firewall & ALG did the update finally succeed. In due course, I acquired SP2
