Can anyone suggest a method of filtering out spam in Russian characters. In mailwasher it appears as ordinary characters with various accents, but in Outlook Express it appears as Russian text. I do not speak or read Russian so I do not know what the emails are about, and I do'nt want them.

Look for the Charactor set in the message.
It may appear in the header, or in the body. It should also be included as part of the Content-Type line. An example is as follows:
| Code: | Content-Type: text/html;
charset="iso-8859-1"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable |
the charset="iso-8859-'n'" in the text specifies the charactor set used. The firt nine numeric values are as follows- Latin 1
- Latin 2
- Latin 3
- Baltic
- Cyrillic (Russian)
- Arabic
- Greek
- Hebrew
- Turkish
Set up your filter to look for the | Code: | Content-Type: text/html;
charset="iso-8859-5" |
or 'text/plain'.
If its in there...its more than likely russian.

There is also a link to UNICODE on that page that might be of interest.
