I want to get DSL, but I don't want to pay for an ISP on top of it. I can get the line itself run to my house for $15 month.
I currently am using a computer with Mandrake 10.1 on it as my Firewall/router. What packages and configuration do I need to utilize to use DSL with no ISP. (resolving hosts locally?)
Do I need to register a domain name to do this?

Wow! Thanks much stan_qaz! I will repost here if I run into any snags.
The links above are full of useful information. However, I am only interested in being the ISP for those in my house. I do not want to "resell" my badwidth.
Just trying to save a few $. _________________ The force is like duct tape. It has a light side, it has a dark side, and it holds the universe together.

You never know, doing something fancy with a reseller may be more than you want to do but adding a WiFi box and splitting your DSL bill with a nearby friend is done a lot.
A lot of us satellite users are sharing with friends as we travel around the country. All we have added is a cheap wiFi router like the LinkSys WRT54G and set it up with encryption to keep unwanted folks from tapping in too. _________________ Questions? Try the wiki
