Can anybody plz assist,

I have an older PC, an emachine, etower 500 ix2 (500 Mhz). It does what I need. I have 256MB RAM, plenty of HD space. I have Microsoft XP Professional edition installed and I thought i had all Service Packs (1 & 2) installed? I download all Security Updates through Microsoft's Update Center every week or week and a half. Now the frustrating issue that I have. When I go and check out my SYSTEMS INFORMATION, but right clicking MY COMPUTER, then click PROPERTIES, under the SYSTEM PROPERTIES WINDOW, General Tab, System, it shows the following:

Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002

Now, I thought that after where it says "Version 2002" it should say "Service Pack 2" or something about Service Pack 2 being installed? But it doesn't. Again, I went to Microsoft's update/downloads website to scan my PC and it says all Critical Updates or Security Patches are installed. Can somebody help me out and explain why I can't find any of the Service Packs for XP Professional being installed on my PC?

Thank You for your help,

Cameron Smile

The service pack number appears right under the version number.
If there is nothing there then it usually means there wasn't one installed.
First, make sure your system is ready to handle it by checking:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/sysreqs.mspx

Then try updating again, if it still doesn't download, try installing sp1 stand alone download from:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp1/default.mspx

run it and see if Service Pack 1 appears under "Version 2002" in system properties
