|

Maybe I posted this originally in the wrong forum. In the general forum noone seems to be moving on it.
Prevx Home has run smoothly for a little while, but directly after boot up every 30 seconds it has now taken to saying "The Prevx Agent is not running. Do you want to start it now?"
After clicking ok, the X disapears from the taskbar Icon. Then a couple of seconds later *plop* "The Prevx Agent is not running. Do you want to start it now?" This does not stop. Prevx Home will be active for a while and then the X reappears, and it will ask again if I want to start the agent.
Manually restarting PXAgent and looking at an overview of active services, I can see PXAgent running for a couple of seconds and then stopping.
I think PXAgent may be conflicting with AWPTA 2.32 since it started bugging out after the installation. Prevx Home in combination with AWPTA seems to cause a conflict in PeerGuardian as well, causing it's start up to fail. (A Windows C++ Notification of an unusual termination request.)Booting without Prevx Home, PeerGuardian boots without complaint.
Any solutions for, workarounds or methods to establish the problem?
- (C:\Program Files\Prevx Home\)PXAgent.exe is on automatic
- (C:\Program Files\Prevx Home\)SAGUI.exe =\All\Registry\All users\Run

Hey Razorlock,
Thanks for the information. Will pass onto the QA and testing team for compabililiy testing of our product with AWPTA. Have you carried out a uninstall and reinstall of the Prevx application?
Thanks

Yeah, just tried that. Forget about it. Same tragedy. After that, went into options in AWPTA, and uninstalled the provider. (effectively switching AWPTA off.) Rebooted, Prevx started no problem.
So, it's definitely AWPTA doing in Prevx. Pitty, that. Now I have to choose between the two of you.
Windows XP Home SPII (build 2600_xpsp_gdr.050301-1419 Service Pack 2)
AWPTA 2.32 (build 759)
PeerGuardian 2beta6 (crashes too, sometimes when Prevx AND AWPTA run together)

Greetings,
razorlock
Rather than choosing between them, would DiamondCS' ProcessGuard be of interest?
Kindest regards,

XP Prow SP1a
PrevXHome
c:\Program Files\PREVX\Prevex Home\qt-mt334.dll
ZA now uninstalled and PrevX shut down
I have also ZA Pro 5.5 running with PrevX Home for several months. When the stink over the release and problems of ZA 6 started, I shut off AutoUpdate and held on to 5.5 running very well until ZA 6.0.667 was given the green light for "safe to install". Installed 6.0.667 over 5.5 as recommended, rebooted and POW, as soon as PrevX loads and the first sign of ZA Pro starts, REBOOT! Checkdisk on every partition, PAGES of "first allocation unit not valid, truncated" "Couldn't locate INF c\windows\inf\wmpio.inf" "ntuserdat.logout non valid link" After several times of that, went into Safe Mode, uninstalled ZA Pro and system booted but then with PrevXHome "PrevX Agent is not running. Do you want to start it now?" Yes, No, Maybe, makes no difference, sometimes the red X goes away but only for a moment, as if PrevX has been "damaged" by ZA6. Intereferes with everything. PrevX Uninstalled, new one downloaded and installed. Same thing. CONSTANT interruptions with "PrevX Agent it not running. Do you want to start it now?" and no matter the answer, keeps popping up. PrevX Agent shut down until I hear from you..... In my case, I think it is a conflict with ZAPro 6 as PrevXHome and ZAPro 5.5 coexested happily for months. Any ideas? Thanks.

With the release of Prevx1 out of beta we would recommend uninstalling Prevx Home and Pro and installing the latest product Prevx1.
The latest release of Prevx1 now contains similar features to Prevx Home and Pro and provides the control for the level of protection you want to run with. You can choose between the level of query you would like to operate with Prevx1 ABC, Pro and Expert modes.
In addition the product provides a new arsenal of protection and reporting not available in the old products of Home and Pro.
The product is available on an extended trail period for free and existing Pro users can use their current license key.
