sorry, i realize that there's already a post for this, but it's locked and i just found a fix that wasn't listed. hopefully this helps someone else as well. i've been installing software and updates on my boss's new Toshiba harman/kardon laptop running XP home with Norton AntiVirus 2005 factory installed. the first thing i did was install SP2, and all other windows updates and i immediately started getting the Repair Feature error on reboot. the NAV2005 shortcuts were never moved and the Office plugin was disabled. after examining my eventvwr.exe log i noticed MsiInstaller was looking for a folder that didn't exist with two subfolders:
C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\Qurantine\Portal
C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\Qurantine\Incoming
i created the Qurantine folder and the two subfolders it seems to have stopped the error.
again, sorry for the duplicate post, but this annoyed me for a long time and nobody elses fixes worked for me, so hopefully somebody else finds this useful.

Thanks to Bill Bright and others for the help on this. I tried several things short of tweaking the registry and was about to Uninstall/Reinstall NSW when I found a different Symantec page from one of Bill's posts
http://tinyurl.com/7246p
So similarly to cb1ocker I simply added two folders:
C:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine\Portal
C:\Program Files\Norton SystemWorks\Norton AntiVirus\Quarantine\Incoming
and the irritating window has disappeared.

Aha, I didn't notice the date. No wonder I hadn't seen the page before!

I have a new dell with XP home, and have never, to my knowledge, moved NAV2005 from the start/program folder, but still get this annoying message when I boot up. I have tried every tip from the symatec website, without success and cannot un-install and re-install as the NAV2005 was on the computer when new for a 3 month period and there is no cd or verificaton code.
I have been trying to get rid of this message for weeks now, but am computer illiterate. HELP!

glad someone found this useful
****EDIT my bad, i just realized that the follwing fix is all over the other thread.
i just had this same problem again with NAV on a reinstall today but found a different solution. the quarantine/portal and quarantine/incoming folders were created by NAV originally this time and i still got the reinstall error.
i had moved the shortcuts into a subfolder in the start menu so i created the following folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Norton AntiVirus and marked it hidden so i don't have to see it in the start menu. it doesn't appear as if NAV cares whether or not the shortcuts are in that folder or not, just that the folder exists.

the shortcuts don't need to be there, only the folder, it can be completely empty.

I also tried ALL the fixes listed at Symantec's site and here and I STILL was getting the error! I ran eventvwr.exe and voila! I found an error where NAV was looking for a file called NAVSHEXT.DLL, I did not have one. I copied one from another pc, pasted in the directory where it was looking for it (C:\program files\Norton Internet Security\Norton Antivirus\ ), reboot & ta daa no irritating message! Huzzah! Finally!
Thank you cb1ocker for the clue!
