News.com.com has broken the story ... CastleCops and Sunbelt announced a major setback to phishers everywhere - the PIRT service. One of the key ingredients to that service is having a trained group of handlers who accept reports from anyone reporting the phish emails and, using the Fried Phish tool developed by Paul, analyze each report, and submit that analysis for use by other interested agencies, including law enforcement. The intent is to have enough trained handlers worldwide such that the PIRT desk is manned 24x7.

If you understand (or know some and would like to learn more about) email headers, IP addressing, DNS, HTML, Javascript, and other such technical details and would like to help in this effort to shut down phish attacks before they suck in their victims, we have a job for you! Consider joining the CastleCops Phishing Squad headed by OldFrog! Post your offer to help at the Recruiting PIRT Handlers topic (Phishing, Fraud and Dastardly Deeds forum). This job like any other at CastleCops, offers no monetary compensation but the sense of satisfaction in knowing you have made a difference in the war against these cybernet criminals will be reward enough!
