I have AVG AntiVirus and Firewall version 7.1, and have noticed recurring entries in XP Home's Event Viewer –
ERROR 000
AVG7.FW.FwService.FwKernel Error Getting Adapters Information (1)
Code: 232
I have sought assistance from AVG Technical Support, and after running tests as prescribed by them have been informed –
As I can see from the log files you have sent, the AVG Firewall is working properly. You do not have any network adapters installed on your computer which causes the mentioned error appear in the Event logs.
If this response is taken at face value, it must mean that many hundreds (thousands?) of home users are also generating these error messages. Maybe I have misunderstood the position, but it does seem rather strange that the AVG application is unable to detect that it is installed on a non-networked system, and behave accordingly.

Hallo,
we have fixed the bug, and fix will be available in the next AVG Plus firewall update, release is planned to first or second week of July. The reason of the message is no available active network adapter.
If an adapter goes to the active state, all traffic is correctly filtered.
If your computer is not connected to the internet or other network, and you have not installed a network adapter or modem using the firewall (have installed the Firewall component) is not necessary - firewall consume your system resources only. Firewall is intended for computers connected to the network or Internet.

Many thanks for the helpful response. The error messages do not seem to affect the smooth running of the firewall whilst connected to the Internet, but it will be good to see them disappear after the planned update.
Thanks again for that information.
