"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A Senate committee chairman warned of a "constitutional confrontation" with the Bush administration Wednesday over its domestic surveillance program, threatening to subpoena administration officials or phone company executives in a congressional review.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter publicly complained about the Bush administration's refusal to cooperate with his panel Tuesday and sent a stinging letter to Vice President Dick Cheney after learning Cheney had lobbied other Republicans on his committee without his knowledge."

Makes one wonder exactly what the Administration is trying so desperately to hide from the American public relating to the NSA/telco probe, doesn't it? Pete

"Specter Threatens to Subpoena Information on Warrantless Surveilance Program"
"The policies include a probe into Bush's domestic surveillance program that has been dropped by Gonzales' Office of Professional Responsibility; revelations that the government, aided by telephone companies, is keeping records of calls made by Americans; the government's attempts to investigate and prosecute journalists who refuse to reveal their sources; and the FBI's raid last month on Rep. William Jefferson's Capitol Hill offices as part of a bribery probe.
Specter also wants to examine the statements Bush issues when he signs bills into law, in which the president enumerates how he will interpret them."

I find it very encouraging that Spector - after being a Republican "yes-man" for so long - finally woke up to the fact that everything he was "approving" of was taken and twisted by the Administration into something very much different than originally intended.
You should support Spector's current efforts to redress this by contacting your legislator's and urging them to demand investigation.
