The release documents for the Beta said that there is no uninstall option available. It made a mess of my XP Pro when I tried the upgrade option.
I had made a complete drive backup before the installation using Norton Ghost. The way I had to get rid of it was to do a low-level reformat of the drive and then using Norton Ghost I restored my original drive image. As long as you have a back up of your XP installation you can do it that way. But since you have it on D:, assuming that D: is a separate drive and not a partition of your main drive, then you could just use Disk Management in XP and delete the D partition. Then you would have to go to your C: drive and remove the files that Vista put there for the dual-boot. That would be the following:

Boot.BAK
bootmgr
BOOTSECT.BAK
$RECYCLE.BIN

These should have been created by Vista in the root of your C: drive during the install.

I had success with Vista after I split my drive C into two partitions, making the new partition a 'logical' drive and then using a Virtual drive with DAEMON Tools, I mounted the Vista ISO file and installed to the new partition. It was done in 30 minutes doing it that way, and now both Systems work fine.

If you've installed Vista in a dual-boot configuration then it can be removed by following the instructions below:

How to Uninstall Windows Vista, Remove Windows Vista or Delete Vista install
