Hi again.

Well my shut down problem still persists. It seems when I run AVG also happens with spybot I think but im ehre to find the problem.

Anyway the scan runs fine and runs along merily for a bit a normaly doesnt detect anything (well I dont email and have only had this computer 3 days) but after running the scan and for example I want to shut down the computer or restart it it logs me of saves my settings but then fails to shut down.

I have also tried a program called shutter but that didn't fix it

This sounds like a problem with Windows itself and not AVG or Spybot. Try http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=308029 for some help with XP shutdown problems.
