Whenever Zone Alarm starts it asks me if I want to allow ip 0.0.0.0 port 5000 to act as a server and allow it access to the internet. I always click no and I logon to the internet like I normally do and everything seems to work fine. So my question is does anybody know what that is?

Question: Are you working on some VPN where your machine needs to listen for connections?

I have no idea what a VPN is so I guess that means my answer is no.

Port 5000 is Microsoft Universal Plug and Play Port.

If you have not done so, I suggest you go to Gibson Research and get the Unplugn'Prey program and run it once. That will disable Windows Universal Plugn'Play port 5000. BTW, a VPN is a virtual private network which are secured private network connections, built on top of publicly-accessible infrastructure, such as the Internet or the public telephone network. I though perhaps you were hooked up to one.

Hey Nick. You are having a problem with your Privacy settings. If you want to customise some sites, do this. Go to the Privacy Panel and click on 'custom' in Cookie Control. Then go to the bottom and enable 'Show Privacy Advisor' click apply then ok. Next go to the page in question and when the Privacy Advisor alert pops up, click on "Click here for details'' and it should take you to the Site List box where you will see the entry causing the problem. The name of the entry can be found in the "Entry Detail" box at the bottom of the page. Now click on 'options' and turn off the ones that interfer with the page. You may have to try several and then refresh the page until the issue is resolved.
If you want your 'global' settings to allow things on all sites, try turning off Ad Blocking. In any event, the Privacy Advisor will tell you what is doing the blocking.
